Since once a band becomes my favorite, it is difficult to take them off the list, I offer this:
1960's : The Beatles
early 70: Creedence Clearwater Revival
late 70's: The Eagles
early 80's: The Police
late 80's: U2
early 90's: Nirvana
late 90's: Delriou5?
21st century: My sons's band.
Things peaked in the 70's (with the Eagles) and slowly deteriorated each decade until my sons formed their band. There's new hope for the future of rock and roll. (I would love to point them out to you, but I need to maintain anonymity here.) |

I’m quite impressed with “Bloc Party” these days, I don’t know if anyone here’s heard of these guys, but I believe that they are touring America at the moment. I think that music is getting good again, there is a small section of fun bands coming to the limelight like the Hives and Franz Ferdinand, although I find the latter rather pretentious.
I do agree that the 70’s produced some fantastic music, prior to that everything was pretty shite in my opinion including the *ARGH* incredibly overrated Beatles and *IIRK* Elvis. But I disagree that things peaked after that, what was bad about the 80’s was the fashion, not necessarily the music, some great bands of the time were Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, Gun’s & Roses, ABC, Tears for Fears, Michael Jackson etc. And some which managed to cross over in style from the 70s like David Bowie and the fantastic Queen which died sadly as a result of Freddie’s death. |
